FLOOD CONTROL

FLOOD CONTROL

All fire pumps work as a flood control device.  In the case of a fire, water is being drawn from a source such as a lake or an ocean.  The pressurized water stream is then directed towards the fire.  A flood control application simply means that the flooded area is being evacuated of water and that the water is being directed towards a non-flooded area (i.e. channel, street, river, etc).

One of MTT’s proudest moments was when we played a major role during Hurricane Katrina‘s emergency response. MTT and the Shaw Group had teamed to pump the flood waters out of New Orleans.  MTT provided operating teams to man two portable Turbine FP-5285 pumps on site for over six weeks despite the unforgiving climate.  Our teams even managed to operate the pumping equipment donated by international volunteers who were unable to man their own pumps.
